Last month at the St. Lawrence Market, one of the vendors had a shoebox full of the most amazing things, including the Cartier pencil that I wrote about earlier. Another rare find from that haul is this unsigned Juliana necklace.
Juliana is just one of the brands made by DeLIzza and Elster, a top of the line costume jewellery manufacturer that was in business from 1947 to 1990. They also made bijoux under the names Tara, Gloria and Elegant. Juliana is just the name that comes first to collectors. Most were unsigned and were instead sold in stores with paper hang tags
Like Sarah Coventry, D&E designed whole suites of jewellery, meaning that somewhere out there, the choker pictured above has a matching bracelet, brooch and earrings.
