African Wax Printed Cloth Tunic

tunic

I found this African wax printed cloth tunic at Shoney’s in Kensington Market. Shoney’s is an old school jobbers-type place, so it’s a bit of a jumble, but they have great prices for vintage. African prints are becoming more and more popular in fashion — Burberry’s spring summer 2012 collection was based around the style of printing known as “Dutch Wax.” I also see the street style types sporting it.

This top is probably a man’s garment. It is big enough that I can wear it as a tunic over skinny blue jeans or, if I’m feeling especially confident, a dress.
