1940s Rayon Crepe Dress Update
Remember my haunted dress? It shrunk when I washed it. I searched the interwebs for a fix and one site suggested that steaming it would relax the fibres, and the jolie robe would regain it’s shape.
Guess what? It totally worked! It was actually pretty amazing to watch the length grow by five inches almost instantly.
So while I wont be washing it again, it’s always good to discover (and share) a new vintage clothing care tip.
I remember when my mother threw my wool cardigens in the washing machine and they shrunk to fit a doll….should have saved them.. Who knew anything about felting in the 1940’s
