Vintage Tiffany & Co. Sterling Manpower Pendants
Like any luxury brand, Tiffany & Co. has a profitable sideline doing corporate work. My brother-in-law has all kinds of promotional keychains made by the venerable jewellery house. One common commission was making service awards for Manpower Temporary Services. A couple of weeks ago, I purchased a Manpower pendant (complete with signed chain and ‘lil blue bag) on eBay. Then, on Sunday, I found another pendant at the St. Lawrence Market.
Supposedly these pendant are semi popular amongst the young ladies because they are an inexpensive way to pick up authentic Tiffany jewellery on the cheap (I paid $10 and $3 respectively). And the old Manpower logo was a classic. And there is also the ironic detachment of wearing a piece of jewellery that honours the Temp.
I have seen a number of these pendants with different Tiffany stamps on the back. I am not sure which is authentic and which are reproductions. Do both pendants have the same markings on the back?
They have different marks, but Tiffany has used quite a few logos over the years. Because these are service awards, it’s pretty unlikely that they are reproductions (counterfeiters generally don’t knock off free things — at least that’s what I tell myself). Even used, they can be picked up for a song.
