Some recent thrift shop finds and trades, starting with this Salmon and Fishhawk motif box top signed by the artist Clarence Wells. My mother and I were planning a train trip to Vancouver but the Jasper fires put the kibosh on that plan. My sister suggested an Alaska cruise instead. Finding this Pacific Northwest artwork seemed like a sign and now that’s the plan.

Speaking of Pacific Northwest, I also found this Black Pearlite Stonecraft Beaver Sculpture Pearlite is a composite material that is meant to look like Argillite, a black slate material only found on Haida Gwaii.
This piece is one half of a set of bookends.

Credit must be given to my thrifting companions John and Sarah. I found the Salmon lid and this Costa Rican carved wood tiger mask whilst out with the former.

And while I found the pearlite beaver, Sarah discovered this Oiva Toikka designed Flora glass bowl by Arabia Finland. She put it back and I picked it up (even though I have no surfaces to display it on).

Same with this Iittala Festivo 2 Knot Glass Candle Holder by Timo Sarpaneva.

Sarah has an amazing eye for objects. She found this Abraham Palatnik lucite leopard — a piece that’s been on my wishlist for decades. I swapped a TAG Heuer F1 for it and a very cool Bulova (but more on that next time).
