Went to the St. Lawrence Antique Market on Sunday hoping to find a new watch strap for my Bert & Ernie windup. While I was digging through the boxes of random watch parts I came across a heart-shaped Yves Saint Laurent watch. These timepieces have a bit of cult status at the moment because of the rising interest in quirky cases. And while this one was made by Citizen in the 1990s, when luxury houses were notorious for licensing their names to the highest bidder, the name still carries a bit of cachet.
I’ve seen this watch on many an influencer’s timeline and even though it was missing half of its original bangle, I couldn’t believe my good fortune. And the vendor had NOS lizard straps — one for the heart and one for Bert & Ernie.
Here’s a picture of my favourite Sesame Street couple with its new, blue lizard band. I also bought a stainless steel Elsa Peretti-esque refrigerator ring.
I also picked up this eensy weensy brutalist Seiko. On any other day, this would have been the star of this post. But the YSL just melted my heart. All in I spent $20.
