Still Feelin’ the Twenties

The Art Deco era is pretty awesome, so here are some more pretties from the 1920s from my jewellery box.
Above is a German-made rhodium plated sterling silver necklace from Birks. The necklace’s box and sleeping bag are also period although not original to the piece. I just wanted the necklace to have a familiar room and cozy bed from its own time.

Meanwhile, in Mexico, an American Architect named William Spratling moved to a mining town called Taxco in the late 1920’s. He encouraged the locals to take up silver smithing, had them produce his own designs and encouraged artisans to create their own works as well. The bracelet pictured above, bottom, is not Spratling, but it dates to those early days.
If you were a chic lady in the twenties or thirties, you would wear five bracelets at a time. I wore the three pictured above yesterday and I could barely lift my arm.
