I Found An Art: Bull Terrier Watercolour

Lots of yard sale action last Saturday. And lots of the kinds of treasures that I don’t normally see at yard sales or thrift shops (my primary hunting grounds).

F’rinstance, at last weekend’s Trinity Bellwoods yard sale, I bought this painting of a bull terrier fo fiver bucks. It’s a watercolour, but for some reason the field around the dog’s head and the artist’s signature has been painted over with a thicker, white medium — possibly gouache although it looks more like Liquid Paper. I don’t know if this overpainting is original or if it was done at a later time. The artist’s signature is a cipher in the arts and crafts style. I’m too afraid to take it out of its frame to investigate further. At any rate, will be a nice companion for the watercolour of our cat that we got from the etsy artist Dimdi.

Signed BJE (or BEJ or BJJ). I haven’t had a chance to fall into a deep research hole on this artist.
