Random Aurora Borealis Rhinestones
In honour of the impending northern winter, here are a few Aurora Borealis rhinestone pieces I picked up at the Value Village last Friday.
Czechoslovakian made glass jewellery (see the brooch pictured above) is one of the more collectible species of costume. The piece above probably dates from the 1950s.
Here’s a pair of earrings with Aurora Borealis rhinestones. Named after the dancing colours of the Northern lights, the Aurora Borealis technique (a thin metallic coating is applied to the crystals produce an iridescent effect) was introduced in 1955.
The stones in the earrings pictured above are held in an open back setting. This means that the stones are unfoiled.
