Midweek Modness: Robert Indiana Love Sculpture
There’s few images in post-war modern art more iconic than Robert Indiana’s typographical treat, “Love.” Originally created for a Christmas card for the Museum of Modern Art in New York, this graphic configuration of the letter L, O, V and E has been reimagined in prints, paintings, sculptures, banners, rings, tapestries, and stamps. This version, in Philadelphia’s John F. Kennedy Plaza, is so beloved by the citizens, that area is now commonly known as LOVE Park.
Also, I have been looking for the aforementioned ring on eBay for years now. I always get outbid.

and i keep meaning to say- i LOVE your masthead, with the rings for Os, and the hand script. every time i visit i like it again (best i’ve seen- is there a prize for such?) but i get caught up in your blogs and forget to mention it. until now!
Aw thanks!
Gracious, while looking for an image of this sculpture for a post I am writing, I came across yours and I love it. (No pun intended) If you wouldn’t mind I would like to use it in the post online only, on our website only, with full credit, a link to this post and no intention to reproduce or modify it in any other way other than sizing.
I also noticed your comment about never being able to win the ring on ebay. Turns out I work for a family owned, independent jeweler in Greensboro, NC and we specialize in custom designed jeweler. Making a LOVE ring in any metal would be a fairly easy task for us, not to mention an enjoyable one!
I love the look of your blog, keep it up!
Any questions feel free to email me at micah@royaldiadem.com!
Sure, no problem. Let me know when it goes live.
