Do Over: Free Picture Frame Meets Old Poster
Mr. Justin and I took a bunch of household stuff to the Annual Trinity Bellwoods Yard Sale last weekend. It was a wonderful day — the weather was glorious, the vibe was chill and we made a significant dent in the clutter in our house.
Basically, we got to hang out (and in Justin’s case, get sunburned) and socialize with neighbours and fellow vendors. At the end of the day, one of our fellow yard salers was packing up and asked us if we wanted a free frame (pictured above). While the goal of the day was to not bring anything back into the house, I couldn’t resist the gilt bamboo frame. I also suspected it would be the perfect size for my oldest framing project — a poster from artist Amy Jean Porter’s 2003 show North American Mammals Speak the Truth and Often Flatter You Unnecessarily. And I was (mostly) right and 10 years later, The California Grey Squirrel has finally found a home. Here’s a quick snap of the poster roughly reset (don’t worry about the original print — it’s just behind the squirrell right now).
