The Long Weekend
To honour all the workers, let’s admire the effort that must go into producing even this, a fairly simply made agate necklace. Stones needed to found, cut and polished. Metal for the wire bezels had to be extracted from the earth, forged and extruded. A jeweller had to assemble these bits and pieces to create this lovely collar. And unless this neckpiece was purchased directly from the artisan, somebody had to ship it to a store where a clerk worked to sell it. Every object touches so many hands (and vice versa). It’s something we shouldn’t forget.
