Finding and Making Part 3: Folk Faces

There’s an artist named Dey Taylor who has set up shop on the sidewalk outside of the Ukrainian church by our house. She has a table of ceramics and, on the steps of the church, an array of paintings that she creates by using found wood and canvas. She sold me this square. I asked her who the subject was and she told me that she had some left over paint from another portrait and just made the guy up.

My dad has been teaching me wood carving, and here is my second effort. It too is a figment of my imagination 9although now that I look at it again, there is a passing resemblence to Vanessa Bayer.
