Summer Set

It’s been a busy couple of weeks. Lots of trips (Switzerland! Kitchener! Brockville!) and a little bit of shopping. Pictured above is a vintage poncho I picked up at our neighbours garage sale. I bought it because we were having our own yard sale and I needed something that would protect me from the sun’s harmful rays. As opposed to, you know, going into my own home and getting a poncho or any other garment that I already own.

My next stop was Switzerland for a work trip. I was doing fairly well with my packing plans but the weather was warmer than I anticipated and got so sweaty thar on day two I had to change midday into my day three ensemble, leaving me one change of clothes short. I had some free time in the morning so I hustled over to the high street and picked up an oversized jacket, tank top, and striped linen pants from the H&M sales rack and a short sleeved sweatshirt from Zara. That’s the sweatshirt and pants pictured above, and the jacket and tank top below.

We went to KW for my mother’s birthday party the day after I returned from Neuchatel. I did buy some blue ankle socks, which I didn’t photograph.

For the next six days we stayed home. Then we did a day trip to Brockville. Mr. Andrew’s mom started the local Habitat for Humanity chapter and, in honour of the local organization’s 25th Anniversary, they were unveiling a plaque in her honour. It was a lovely and touching event and the weather was hazy but warm and rain-free. Once again I was both over- and underdressed. I wore layers so I was able to ditch my jacket but I forgot a hat and the speeches were being held outside in the noon day sun. Luckily the ceremony was being held at the Habitat For Humanity Restore, where they had racks and racks of new old stock clothing and accessories. I picked up a Brixton sun hat (below) and, because everything was 25 percent off, I also purchased a zebra print Smash & Tess Tunic dress. All for a good cause.
