Valley Of The Dolls

A quick drive by post to record my recent doll haul. First up, a black vinyl doll case. According to the internets, it was manufactured around 1966 by a Canadian company called ATCO and was sold in long-departed department stores like Kresges and Woolworths. Right now, it will serve as a home for Midge.

Next up are some Liddle Kiddle dolls, made by Mattel. These wee toys often came tucked into a locket, perfume bottle or a flower. The Liddle pictured below is called Luscious Lime and was part of a 1968 series that came packaged in plastic pop bottles.

She measures about six inches high. I also purchased a slight larger Little Liddle Kiddle Windy Fliddle from 1967. This doll has a mechanism that moves its arms and legs as you push it along so that she appears to be walking. It isn’t working. I will have to do some research to see if I can fix it.

The next doll is a clone of a Hasbro Dolly Darling doll. Again, these dolls are on the small side (about 4 1/2 inches high) and date to the last half of the 1960s. Between this and the Dawn find, I reckon they all came from the same thrift shop donation. I imagine they belonged to a girl (or some sisters) who are my age or just a little bit older than me (I remember Liddle Kiddles and think I even had one that was housed in a flower).
