Best Dressed

I’m trying to do the #75dayhardstylechallenge. Part of the deal is no new clothing purchases. But it’s not cheating if you are buying vintage doll clothes, right?

Apparently I’m just transferring my compulsion to buy clothes to an obsession with dolls. And because I’ve achieved my goal of amassing all the Spice Girls figurines, I’ve just turned my sights on doll clothes.

I hit the mother lode of 1980s era outfits at the Value Village this afternoon. I also picked up a cheap Barbie clone because she was dressed in a red Chanel-style suit. Here she is modelling the finds.

These Prarie-style dresses represent Gunne Sack look of the late 1970s.

And here’s some ensembles that scream late disco, new wave attire. Note: they all require minor repairs but are in pretty good shape considering their age. I especially like the poufy sleeves on the body suit on the far left.

It was fun styling these vintage looks. So many crazy sleeves! It almost feels like the costumes from the movie “Poor Things.” Once I get them in good nick, I shall have a proper fashion show.

There’s more to share, including some handmade attire, accessories and some Barbie labelled bits. I will get to those tomorrow.
