Wear More Jewelry

I’m in the midst of a jewelry reorganization. As you can imagine I’ve got lots of it. Too much. I sold a bunch to one of my favourite vintage shops, Mrs. Huizenga, and I’ve listed a few more collectible pieces on my Poshmark Shop (I’ve mostly deactivated my Etsy account because I loathe that Etsy pretty much abandoned its independent sellers). But having a side hustle is exhausting. So mostly I’ve been limiting acquiing new jewelry. With a few exceptions.

Last year, I went to an event co-sponsored by Paris Jewellers — a woman-run, Canadian retail chain— and Citizen Watches. The theme was layering and pairing jewelry with watches and wardrobe. We were gifted the chain link hoops pictures up top, and they quickly became my go-to earrings. At the event, I tried on a tennis bracelet with my 1970s Citizen and I became enamoured of the look. It took me a while before I could afford one (plated sterling with CZs—I’m not a millionaire).

Also in new jewel news, I bought a pair of silver safety pin earrings. Impulse buy. I figure I can change them up by adding little charms.

As for thrifted finds, I still always check out the jewellery section for certain things, including Bakelite bangles. I hadn’t found any in years so imagine my glee when I got two in one week!
