Things I Bought/Things I Didn’t Buy

I was early for an appointment on Tuesday so I popped into Winners to kill time. I visited the shoe section and there were so many colourful plastic shoes. I had just gone through my plastic shoe stash pulling out things that I bought impulsively but didn’t fit to sell at our upcoming yard sale. But I was sorely tempted by these rainboots (didn’t buy, already have a pair of red EVA Birkenstock booties).

And then there were these green Sorel clogs (didn’t buy, too big and I’m swearing off buying ill fitting things just because they are discounted).

In the end I broke down and bought these Crocs Mega Crush Platform clogs. Because I can’t wear heels anymore but I feel the need for height. Plus I love my Crocs Bae platforms so much (although these feel heavier).

The next day I was in NYC for a quick trip. I was early for an appointment so I popped into Target to kill time. Pieces from their Diane von Fürstenberg collaboration from earlier this year had hit the clearance rack. I have always wanted a DVF wrap dress (love the patterns) and I have found a few vintage examples over the years but they were always too small. I tried a bunch of the Target pieces on but every thing was too big or, in the case of this sleeveless windbreaker, too polyester-y as well. Too bad because it was only $12.

Fast forward a few hours. I managed to spill root beer down the front of my white top. I needed a new shirt to look professional for my next appointment. I went to a different Target that:,1. Had wrap dresses on sale (although maybe still a size too big); 2. Also had the cool gingko print knit pants that I tried on at the first Target. I bought both.

So my top problem was resolved but then I had a footwear issue in that my Hokas didn’t quite work with the dress. Keeping in the theme of collaboration, I found a pair of Claire Waight Keller slides (worn with the green socks I was already wearing) to coordinate with the gown.
