The Side Mart

It’s the end of the month which means that people are moving out which means plenty of free boxes out on the sidewalk. I’m trying to cut down on bringing new stuff into the house but these things were too hard to resist. I’ll start with a few true vintage dresses.

This lacy pink number is probably from the 1960s, is handmade and in incredible condition for a 60-year-old dress — no stains or tears but there is some fraying on the satin lining. Of course it doesn’t fit me but I couldn’t just leave it on the sidewalk, could I?

This lacy cocktail dress is from the same era and is also in great previously loved shape. I had a similar frock but in black that I purchased for my high school formal but my mom refused to let me wear a second-hand dress (what would the neighbours think?)

Jumping ahead into the 21st century, I found this Hilary Radley Tunic Dress. Hilary Radley is a Canadian label that we used to shoot a lot when I worked in beauty magazines in the 2000s but i think this mini is a more modern piece (mostly because a quick Google search turned up multiple listings of this exact same garment).

This was a fun find: a classic herringbone tweed jacket from actress Sarah Jessica Parker’s label Bitten. Again too small for me. If you are a small-to-medium hit me up!

On the plus side/size, this Deadpool sweater is a little snug but fits.
I also got a whole passel of non-clothing finds to document. Stay tuned.
