Culture

I’m not just about buying clothes. Sometimes I engaged in cultural pursuits. For example, when I was in New York, I took in a Broadway show, Cole Escola’s “Oh, Mary.” It was weird and irreverent and super funny. I had heard so many good things about it, but I was also a little on the fence about spending so much money. What finally convinced me was that the show was supposed to be closing in October and I got some (relatively) inexpensive last-minute tickets in the balcony. The day after they extended the run until the end of November. I might try and go again when I return to NYC in October.

I got back from New York Friday morning. Friday night Mr. Andrew and I went to see IDLES. It was a fantastic date night! The opening act, English Teacher, was grand. IDLES put on a powerhouse show—no fancy lights or sets, just pure performance.

Good merch, too. I didn’t get any Oh, Mary souvenirs but maybe if I go back.

On Saturday I went to The Roper Romp with my friends Becky and Theresa. Basically, people dress like Mrs. Roper from “Three’s Company” and go on a mini pub crawl. It was super fun and we met many cool Helens. Wigs, however, are hot.

The Romp was organized by Doll Factory By Damzels. The best part is that they anticipated that us Helens would get overheated and provided these funky fans.
