It’s A Sindy

I was able to solve a doll mystery this weekend. Last year I bought this 1990s doll think it might be a Jem (she is truly outrageous after all). She was not and even after many hours of research I could not figure out who this crazy lady was.

Flash forward to last weekend when I spotted this 1960s fashion doll at the Value Village. I thought she was a Sindy — a British Barbie alternative. Unfortunately real Sindy’s of this era look in the opposite direction (and have all kinds of stamps of authenticity that this doll lacks.

What I learned when I went down the Sunday rabbit hole was that the doll was rebranded in the 1990s with a straight-ahead stare and a much smaller head. Basically, new wave Sindy looked exactly like my mystery doll. Meet Wild Hair Sindy!
