Beauty in the Ruins: Enid Collins Flutterbyes Box Bag
I’ve had this beat up old wooden purse since I was in high school. It’s by a former milliner named Enid Collins from Medina, Texas. I don’t know what led her to switch to making canvas bucket bags and wooden box purses with whimsical designs and colourful embellishments. She designed these bags from 1959 until 1970.
While these bags have a cult following, I’m kind of surprised that the brand hasn’t gotten the retro resurrection treatment like Charley Harper prints and Vera scarves. To see some Collins bags that are in good condition, check out Pinterest.
