Midweek Modness: Raymond Loewy for Rosenthal Gems Bowl and Saucer

Raymond Loewy is, of course, one of the Titans of mid-century modern design. While I’m not actively collecting table services, I’ve always got my eye out his designs for Rosenthal for my friend Jane, who has a set of his Atomic Starburst pattern. I never, ever find them.

Until this weekend, when I went to the best garage sale EVER! Where I found this bowl and saucer in the “Gems” pattern. For $1. It’s painted with teeny precious stones. What could be more appropriate for me? Nothing, I tells ya.
