Crystal Ball and Serious Coin

More random thrift shop finds. Neither of these pieces have great monetary value or a rich design history, but they both amuse me. First is the rock crystal pendant which hangs from a leather thong. I like rocks. I like the way the light hits the inclusions in the quartz. And I like to pretend I can use it to foretell the future.

Not only was I a junior rockhound as a youth, I also collected coins. So I was smitten with this no doubt handmade necklace. Most of the coins are from Hong Kong and date from the 1960s, but there is an old King George IV Half Penny in there. Of course, numanistically speaking, once you drill a hole through a coin, it essentially becomes valueless to collectors. I just like to wear it and pretend I am a nomadic lady who carries my wealth around with me in the form of jewellery.
