Pyrrha Stag Pendant

I just wanted to take a moment to reflect on the success of my pals. So many friends, relatives and colleagues have achieved some pretty impressive milestones in the last 12 months — publishing novels, making movies, getting hitched and starting new jobs. I couldn’t be happier and I hope to provide them all with fancy jewels as they walk their future red carpets.

Our friends Brian and Deborah are making a big move to pursue their creative dreams, and they held an indoor garage sale to help pare down their stuff. Of course, I picked up some jewellery including this cool stag pendant. It’s made by a Vancouver-based outfit called Pyrrha. The design duo of Wade Papin and Danielle Wilmore, are inspired by wax seals from the 18th and 19th century to make talismans. The symbolism of the seals is meant “to remind you of the things that are important in your life.” And every piece is handmade from recycled metals. The Pyrrha team has seen much success since they started their company in the mid 1990s. Their totemic treasures have been sold by shops like Liberty in London and Fred Segal in L.A., and worn by stylemakers such as Katie Holmes and Taylor Swift.

According to the Pyrrha site, the stag symbolizes peace and harmony. I also like to think that because it belonged to Deborah, it will be a lucky talisman and if I wear it all the time, it will bring them good luck which, in addition to their many talents, will bring them success and happiness.
