Early Mexican Silver Red Coral Cuff Bracelet

mex coral

Picked up this cool cuff for $6 at the Value Village on the weekend. I was drawn to it because of it’s shield-shaped, bezel set red coral. I can’t say with absolute certainty that this is a pre-1950s piece of Mexican silver, but here are the clues that I am going on: It’s somewhat rough hewn; it’s marked 950 instead of 925 silver; and the only other mark is Mex — no eagle or later two letter city/maker code. On the other hand, the early Mexican silver signatures are often raised, not incuse.

So it could’ve been made two weeks ago.
