Canadiana: Blue Mountain Pottery
I’ve been on a bit of a pottery kick of late. I have a theory that most collecting is borne out of nostalgia and the drip glazed ceramics of Blue Mountain Pottery (1947-2004) were certainly a familiar sight from my childhood. Everybody I knew had at least one piece in their house. We even visited the studio in Collingwood once when we were kids.
Because of its ubiquity, I had always associated it with kitschy souvenir stuff, but I have discovered more elegant examples of Blue Mountain Pottery whilst making the rounds of antique shows. This is my first and (so far) only BMP — a little fawn I found at the Value Village for $5. Not a great deal, but a nice price.

got to love a bambi!
