Hot Stuff

Last week, when it was still boiling hot outside, I set off to find some cotton underpinnings. In my teens, I had a whole stash of vintage bras and bloomers. Nothing was cooler to wear on a high-temperature day. Plus, I’m getting a little worried about the after-life of the man made fibres used to make things stretchy. I noticed that Old Navy had some similar lingerie listed in their sleep wear section. And it was on sale. So I bought one bralette and one pair of sleep shorts to see if they would replicate the vintage experience.

I was very pleased. I wish I’d bought more. If I get some cheques this week I’ll definitely get more. I also bought a little net bag because I want to add some fringe to it.

Since I’m inventorying recent purchases, I also have to add the black satin slip skirt and blue gauzy top pictured above. I went to visit my mother on the weekend. Between the time I left Toronto and arrived in Kitchener, my mom found out that her friend had died and the funeral was the next day. Because my mother is recovering from knee surgery, she needed me to get her to the service and back. The only issue was that I had only packed a bathing suit and graphic tees with sayings like “It’s Way Too Peopley Outside.”

I got up early on Saturday morning and went to Walmart (the only place open at 8am) to get something more funeral appropriate.

This wool COS top that I found at the Value Village on Thursday would have been perfect for a solemn ceremony. Alas, I did not pack it.
