Hecho En Mexico

I am a big fan of vintage Mexican jewelry. I used to have a pretty big collection because I used to come across it all the time. I still have (and love) a bunch of necklaces, bracelets, rings and earrings. But one thing that has always eluded me was a gigantic bypass clamper. I never found one thrifting and the pieces on sale on the Internet were priced beyond my means.
Last weekend, Mr. Andrew and I were visiting his brother’s cottage. We drove into town and checked out some vintage stores (more on that later), including the classic Curries in Gravenhurst. It’s a mostly music-themed antique shop but there is a small room with sewing notions, accessories and jewelry. That’s were I found the abalone beauty pictured above. It was a little pricey, but still a third of the pieces I’ve seen online. And I have been looking for one for 10 years and just got a big paycheque so I pulled the trigger.

I’ve been on a vintage Taxco roll. The weekend before I purchased these screw backs at a yard sale up the road. I’m thinking of having them converted to pierced earrings.
Both the bracelet and earrings are signed but I can’t figure out the names of the silversmiths.
