Queen Of Kensington

I’ve been visiting Toronto’s Kensington Market’s many thrift shops and boutiques since I was a pup. And while much has changed in the Market over the decades, I still get a thrill shopping for second hand treasures. Last weekend we visited two of my old standbys, including Courage My Love (pictured above) and Shoney’s.

I didn’t get anything at Courage this time but I certainly noted the lovely selection of boots and fall outerwear. On the way to the shop, we stopped at a yard sale and an outdoor artist market where I did score two rings — a silver band stamped with a scene of Mr. Fuji and a black onyx dome ring (to replace my green onyx dome ring that I smashed the day before).

We also stopped in at Shoney’s, a classic, crowded and uncurated secondhand jobbers. If you like digging, this is the store for you. If you like spending less than ten bucks on two pretty silk scarves and a stretchy reconstituted amber bracelet, this is also the place for you.
