Playing With Dolls

My gosh, it’s been a minute. I’ve been participating in NaNoWriMo so my spare creative time is going to writing a novel. And like probably every one, the changing weather and the depressing political climate has left me feeling exhausted. That doesn’t mean that I haven’t had fun times. It’s important to have joy in life.

Take this Midge (Barbie’s best friend) for example. I was getting my steps in at the local Value Village and checking out the used Barbie section as part of my eternal quest to find a Baby Spice doll. I spotted this bubble haired beauty sitting in a sack with a random Disney princess, dressed in a black and purple ruffled 1980s era dress. In a separate grouping was a Superstar Barbie decked out in a vintage Movie Date dress and shoes.

Midge is not perfect. But considering that she’s older than me, I’d say she’s in great shape. She suffers from the dreaded green ear disease, but my online research has uncovered that that condition is easy to remedy. But just look at the details. Especially her perfectly painted fingernails!

The other dolls had some cool clothes that just needed minor repairs. We’re talking snap era closures, not Velcro. Anyway, I feel lucky to have found her.
