A Big Bag ‘O Watches

I bought a big bag of watches from Facebook Marketplace. I had a grand old time sorting through them, separating the interesting (to me) from the pedestrian, the working from the messed up. Here are some of my favourites, starting with the crazy wrist radio pictured above. I haven’t been able to get the battery cover off yet to test to see if it’s working.

Here are some big chunks of 1970s funk. The Russian UFO is not working. The Fludo in the middle is running but the crystal has issues. The Rega on the right is super extra (a faceted crystal? What?). It ticks but the dial is slightly off centre.

I switched the stretchy strap on the Fludo for a blue fabric one. I think the navy blue complements the honey brown dial.

Next up: A stack of ladies mechanical watches. The Timex is not working. The dainty Bulova runs. The Westfield does not. The Seiko works but you can’t set the time. The art deco Glycine was running until I got curious if there were any marks on the inside of the case and ended up losing the hour hand in the process. I will use the hands of the Westfield as donors.

Apologies in advance for reposting the Seiko but here are some other small timepieces, starting with a Helbros from 1966. I know it’s birth year because I found it in an old catalogue. Beside it is an old Roamer that’s got a discoloured dial and it’s missing a crown. I still want to save it somehow. Below the Roamer is a nice looking Citizen which is pooched and not worth laying out the bones to repair it.
Then there’s a non-working Cinderella watch that is pretty much like the one I destroyed when I was 5. I have since replaced the child sized strap with one from a Miley Cyrus watch. Then the aforementioned MCM Seiko.

A closer look at the Helbros. I like the typography on the numbers. I am searching for a replacement strap.

My favourite find is this Accutron. It has always been a goal to find an Accuraton on day, but in the meantime I would be happy to wear this mode

Lastly, here’s a Seiko Pendant Watch. It’s keeping time and looking shiny!
