Crazy Crafty

I’ve been inundated with deadlines for the last couple of weeks. But I find making things is a good palate cleanser between projects. Here are some recent remodels.

Project #1 was upcycling shoppers from the big bag of bags. This went hand in hand with another task on the to-do list: do something about the proliferation of reusable bags. Most were donated to thrift shops but I tweaked this tote to reflect my feelings toward greedflation. (PS I am totally joining the Loblaws boycott in May and am trying to avoid the corporation as much as possible already).

Project #2: Decorate the inside of an old box to make a watch box. My loose Swatches and G-Shocks needed a nicer home. The local grocer down the street that I am supporting instead of any shop Loblaws related sells single rolls of toilet paper that come in a prettily patterned wrap. I bought one package just so I could wallpaper the inside of my homemade watch box.

This is not an original concept. I saw it on a shirt on my Instagram timeline. That top, however is $150 (totally worth it but also money I can’t afford to throw around). Whilst doing my spring cleaning I came across some fabric markers. So I thought I’d try out the concept on a holey t-shirt that I already had (I changed the design). The original looks 100 times better but this experiment was successful enough to convince me to buy the original. I’ll wear this under other things to keep it out of the trash heap.
