More recent watch updates. I’ve had my eye on this Mr. Jones Jump Hour watch for a while now. Called “The Promise Of Happiness” and designed by illustrator Fanny Shorter, it has many dial layers and apertures which make it so very intriguing. I wrote about it and Mr. Jones a couple of times and, still obsessed, I borrowed it to photograph for a roundup of jumphour watches. I was even more in love with it when I saw it in person. When it came time to return it, the brand said I could keep it. Ethically I should say no, but I said yes. Because Tigers. So full disclosure, this watch was a gift. When I wrote about it, it was pre gift. Now I am writing about it post gift so I must disclose this info.
I do love it so, though.

In other new watch news, I did a watch swap with my friend Sarah. One of the pieces I got was this teeny tiny vintage Hefix. It needed a teeny tiny bracelet. I had an extendable strap sitting in a box of parts. I had to file it down a bit so it would fit between the lugs. And then I had to take it to my local jeweler to get super small spring bars.

After our watch swap, Sarah and I struck out to go thrift shopping in Mississauga. I found this working Bucherer at the first place we visited. It was only $12! But it had an ugly bracelet.

A fancy watch like this deserves a nice strap. A few days later I went to get a new leather band from Canadian Watch Repair on Spadina.
