Best Wishes

Every month I make a little list of cute things that I spot on the interwebs. They are things that I wish I could buy but for some reason (usually lack of money or availability), can’t. Or else they are things that I don’t really need (like the full sized plastic Pluto desk pictured above). I take screen grabs instead. And out of sheer laziness I forget to jot down the sources of these wonderful treasures (though I do remember that the Kilban cat sticker is from the Instagram account @sandw1tchshop.

The trompe l’oeil t-shirt is by Eliza Faulkner. As of writing it is still in stock. The Chambray shirt was from the Gap. It is long gone but I hope it might pop up again on the secondary market. The boots are basically the white version of my beloved red Fiorucci Love Boots. Heels and pointy toes are exactly the kind of footwear my chiropodist has forbidden me from ever wearing again.

I tried and failed to purchase this Marimekko x Uniqlo shift. I did buy one with a different pattern. I tried and failed to find these Green Crocs. This Seiko is still available on Facebook Marketplace but is a priced a little out of my range. And i have way too many clogs to justify having a pair of polar bear paws on my feet.

Here’s a wishlist that I almost checked off. I did contact the FB seller of this Penguin pin but they lived in another city and ultimately felt uncomfortable about mailing it. And I did get a Mickey Mouse cardigans, just not this exact model. No dice on the Roland Garros tote (my enthusiasm flagged as summer came to a close). 100 percent success on the purple pseudo Marimekko sweater from Giant Tiger. Just waiting for cooler weather to kick in so can wear it.

I also have a drawer full of t-shirts so I certainly couldn’t justify ordering either of these two tops (and once again, I forgot to note where they came from so I wouldn’t know how to nab them anyway). Same for the burger mules. I did buy the Croc Mary Jane when I was in NYC.

This is my second last list. I have already have Jean jackets galore, but this one from Levi’s is much better. I feel I need to atone for earlier rash purchases by denying myself the pleasure of a superior version. Likewise the mustard-coloured cardigan. I already have a perfectly good sweater but it doesn’t have a shawl collar like this beauty from L.L. Bean. The skeleton kitty throw pillow from 5 Below was out of stock when I last visited. And I forget where the Homer disappearing into the bushes jacket came from.

I forgot that I already had the penguin pin on a previous wishlist when I made this grid. And I’m too lazy to correct it. The Cartier watch is out of my league financially. The vintage Carhartt chore jacket probably doesn’t fit either my body or my budget. I did buy the black Dickie on the weekend. I convinced myself that was a great purchase because I could stretch my wardrobe by wearing it over summery shirts in the winter.
