Shoe Ins

An inventory of recent footwear purchases

A significant sampling of my recent wardrobe purge involves selling off shoes. I have a love/hate relationship with foot wear. My preferred state is barefoot followed by insanely impractical shapes. My chiropodist and doctor insist that I must resign myself to sensible shoes. And then I have an across-the-board problem of purchasing things that are a size too big or too small.

In a nutshell, I’ve accumulated too many shoes that I can’t actually wear so I’m rehomimg them. And of all the bits of wardrobe that I’ve been selling off, shoes and boots have been the most successful category (and at least two potential buyers were foot fetishists but my shoes weren’t dirty enough for their tastes).

The slouchy red leather boots were a thrift shop find. I keep swearing off second hand shoes (the combination of dried up leather and weird wear patterns is heartbreaking) but these babies fit so perfectly. The even accommodate my sturdy calves. I will give them a restorative leather moisturizing treatment before I take them out on the streets.

My other new shooz came from a trip to Costco with my sister Bobbi. I had the UGG version of these shearling and suede mules on my wish list. But these Kirkland versions cost about $100 less. I am 100 percent all about the #cloglife, so I caved in and bought them because it’s been about eight years since I’ve stepped into a Costco and who knows when I’ll be back. I also bought two pair of socks at Dollarama. I will dig deep into my soul to stop from purchasing anything else for the rest of 2024.
