All The Fixings

It is my goal to repair as much as I can. Sometimes I can fix things myself. In fact I have successfully patched this Longchamp tote several times already, but last year I overloaded it and the leather straps came loose from the nylon part of the bag. It needed to be restitched and secured. Likewise, these Birkenstock Arizona sandals had several issues and while I could reglue loose bits and pieces, it was apparent that the footbed needed recorking.
My go to cobbler, Sole Survivor, has closed up shop to run away and join the Cirque de Soleil. I took these two projects to a nearby shoe repair place. They did a great job but it wasn’t inexpensive. Still less expensive than buying new Birks or a Longchamp Pliage. Plus both were yard sale/sidewalk finds so I my initial investment wasn’t too onerous. And it feels good to reduce, reuse, recycle and to support people who keep crafts like cobbling alive.
