Sometimes I Feel Like A Minimalist

There’s a second hand store called Global Thrift at the corner of Keele and Eglinton. They have lots of great true vintage clothing and pretty good prices. I was in the neighborhood on Monday because there’s a convenience store up there that sells delicious doubles, so I stopped in.

I was looking for a scarf and hat for a costume for a party we’re coming to tonight (every year we meet with friends to watch Pee Wee’s Christmas Special and this time we thought we’d dress up for the occasion—I’m going as Pee Wee Herman’s skating double if you must know). Any way, this shop always has a rack of what looks like new old stock Eileen Fischer. As a woman of a certain age, I find the brand’s minimalist ethos comfortable and timeless. It’s one of the few labels that I will purchase without hesitation. So I bought a basic black wool sweater, a kinda kimono jacket vest layering piece and some tweedy looking pants. It’s my woman in the arts look.
