I’m A Designer Now

My colleagues are out there creating Substacks and monetizing themselves. But I’m just blogging away with nonsense like this. You know, posting pictures of stuff I made but without any useful info on how you can also make things yourself. So here’s some background on the fits picture above.

I was going to see Angine de Poitrine and I had a vision of turning a jacket that I had listed on Poshmark into a piece of polka dotted fan art. I bought some adhesive, glittery foam at Michael’s. And I got some self sticking boucle letters at Dollarama. And violà—a cool piece of me made merch. I bought a bunch of the Dollarama letters so I also updated my Aunti Fa bucket hat with them (instead of some bad embroidery that I previous employed).

The other DIY projects I may have already written about: a dress made of Ikea tea towels (perhaps the best garment I’ve ever made), and a skirt and tunic top made from Dollarama pillow cases.

And finally, I got a bag full of dog tags on ball chain necklaces so repurposed an Audemars Piguet key chain and a gold dipped leaf pendant into new necklaces.

I enjoy making things, even though I pretty much put the minimum effort into my projects. I’m thinking of signing up for classes at a nearby sewing school so I can complete my next project: making a barn jacket out of my stash of canvas tote bags.
