Do Over?: Vintage Glasses
I’ve had these cool. 1960s vintage frames (pictured above) for a couple of years now. While they are kinda of close to my prescription, I’ve always meant to have proper lenses put in. Andrew tipped me off that Rapp Optical up on College will retrofit retro frames, so I took them in on Monday to see if this was, in fact, true.
I talked to Mel Rapp himself. He was bluntly honest about the process: Old plastic, like anything else, dries out over time, making the frames brittle. There is a chance that, during the relensing [I made that word up], the frames could break. If that happens, they cannot be held responsible.
So I’m mulling over what to do. What do you guys think?

I say give it a shot! My first reaction is to hoard things and keep them mint but maybe you’ll get cool AND useful glasses out of the deal. Unless they are worth a million dollars. Then don’t do it.
Thanks Stan. I think I’m gonna do it!
