Window Shopping: CTS
The Canadian Thrift Shop at Queen and Spadina is always worth a visit. It’s better curated than other thrifts, such as the Value Village or Sally Ann. This means that things can also be a little pricier. For example, once they had a vintage Missoni pant suit for like $80. True, if you were lucky enought to come across something like that after digging around at the VV, it would probably cost $14 to $35.On the other hand, if you found the same piece at a posh vintage shop, you’d be looking at $200 to $300.
Basically what I’m saying is that if you are not a hardcore picker, this is the shop for you.
My only beef: they used to have a much better jewellery selection. Now they ain’t hardly gots nuthin’.
I work around the corner from CTS and know the manager, Nadia – in fact I just sold her some this week bling and it hit her cases yesterday!!
I’ll check it out. Didn’t know they bought stuff.
