New York SS 2012 Fashion Week Recap: The Fine Prints

Slowly catching up with coverage of the Spring Summer Ready to Wear collections from New York. My favourite trends are the dominance of prints and the multi-culti mixing and matching — a kimono worn as a jacket over an embroidered Peruvian-style skirt, for example. There are also lots of whimsical prints on the runways — such as the kitty cat fabrics at Victoria Beckham‘s secondary line, Victoria.

It was also a moment for newer designers at the NYC SS 2012 RTW shows. 3.1 Phillip Lim, Theyskens’ Theory, The Row all received top marks from reviewers. Because I never watched Project Runway, my big discovery was Gretchen Jones. I probably wouldn’t wear all the clothes but I really liked the prints (pictured above) and the accessories, like the stylized squash blossom necklace pictured below.
