May Birthstone: Emeralds

If your birthday is in May, then the emerald is your birthstone. Emeralds, along with diamonds, rubies and sapphires are precious gemstones. They have been popular since ancient times. The Spanish Conquistadores filled their galleons with stones mined in the New World. Angelina Jolie is a big fan of emerals. Need I say more?

As for mystical properties, the say that wearing an emerald can sharpen your memory and intelligence, and give you clarity about the past, present, and future. Emerald is not my birthstone, but I could use a hit of that right now. Luckily, I have a few of the green gems lying around. Pictured above are my wedding earrings. Below is the emerald and garnet ring that my mother wants me to give her.
