Emerald City

Emerald coloured bracelets

Every year, Pantone picks a “colour of the Year.” For 2013 it’s Emerald. And every year I celebrate Pantone’s choice with a selection of similarly hued goods that have passed through my collections. Because I’m a big fan of colour, It wasn’t easy narrowing down the selection of greens. Above are a bunch of plastic bangles which I have since sold. Below (clockwise from top left) the Columbian Emerald studs I wore on my wedding day; vintage green suede slouch bag (which I last used on the weekend); my emerald and ruby ring; a vintage Belle France dress which I sadly could no longer fit into; an art deco bangle (also sold); my Old Navy green jeans (last worn on Saturday); and a Rafael pendant with emerald-green Murano glass (It is hanging on the wall beside me as I type).

The reason that I mention their current status is to demonstrate how much I adore emerald — in a season of downsizing, half of the green has evaded the cull (and I would’ve kept the dress if it still fit.
