Hall of Fame Style
On our long weekend road trip, we also visited Cleveland and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. I’ve been before, but there were a lot of updated exhibits and a lot more clothes than I remember. Here are some photos of my favourite ensembles.
THE CLASSICS
Pictured above are a wool jack worn by Hank Williams and a Burberry’s trenchcoat owned by journalist Ralph Gleason.
FOR THE LADIES
I would totally wear Wanda Jackson’s sequinned-and-fringed frock with this Hussein Chalayan-designed Bjork blazer.
FOR THE GENTS
I would also wear these embroidered jackets. On the left, a brown velvet number worn by Robbie Robertson. On the right, Tom Petty’s Full Moon Fever-era jacket.
FOR THE PANSEXUAL PIXIE
My favourite rock and roll looks are always asexual. Like The New York Doll’s Sylvain Sylvain’s hot pink tank and brocade trousers from Malcolm McLaren and Vivienne Westwood’s shop, Let It Rock. Or Chris Stein from Blondie’s acrylic spike spangled sweatshirt. Or John Lennon’s Yoko Ono designed “You Are Here” T-Shirt.
FOR THE BOHEMIAN
And finally, who could resist the craftsmanship and general lackadaisical sexiness of this handwoven poncho (worn by either Crosby, Stills or Nash — I forget which) or Al Green’s embroidered leather pants. I have to keep reminding myself that Al Green is a minister.
