When I was a kid, I used to make paper jewelry and dolls by cutting pictures of rings and Royal Doulton figurines out of the Birks catalogue. And a couple of years ago, I copied images of famous necklaces and bracelets onto Shrinky Dinks plastic sheets to create black and white bijoux.
My recent experiments with collage in my sketchbooks and a random Instagram repost of a woman who drew rings onto lined paper using a blue bic gave me an idea. What if I turned myself into a collage?
I laminated some cut outs and reassembled them into the bib necklace pictured above and the bracelets pictured below. I still need to refine the look. And I know I’m not the first person to make jewellery out of laminate and/or bricolage, but it sure has been fun experimenting with the form.
