Ultimate Ultima Thule

Ambling is my exercise routine. But I really need a carrot or stick to get me out of the house. It’s especially easy to be a hermit when the weather is grim. But last week Toronto experienced its annual February thaw so I got in as many walks as I could.
Twice I strolled up to the Stockyards to get some crafting supplies. And I dropped into the Banana Republic Factory Outlet and bought myself a pair of pants and a balloon sleeved top because they were deeply discounted and appropriate for work travel.

Other excursions included eating out as the destination. Eventually, however, I needed a walk that wasn’t transactional. On Sunday, Mr. Andrew and I strolled around the neighborhood where we found the big bowl pictured up top.
The Ultima Thule glassware collection was designed for Iittala in 1968 by Tapio Wirkkala. The inspiration for the collection was the melting spring ice of Northern Finland. Considering that we saw snow drops poking out of the gardens and lawns, it was a particularly timely find.
