Malibu

Got both a Malibu Barbie and Ken in my Facebook marketplace doll haul. I have found several Malibu Ken’s over the years. I’m guessing this dude is from 1971 based on packaging from the time.

PS. My Ken is not wearing his original trunks but rather a pair I just happened to have lying around. The Malibu Barbie pictured on the packaging is the model that I owned as a five-year-old. The Malibu dolls were your basic bare bones Barbie Dolls. So I expensive that we went to the Highway Market (a department store with creaky wooden floors) and somebody (an indulgent grandparent probably) bought it for me even though it was not my birthday. Mine came with the blue bathing suit, bubble sunglasses and yellow towel. This red bathing suit version dates from around 1975.

I don’t know if I’ll keep them. My main focus is on Celebrity Dolls. But I dressed them up in new clothes just for fun.
