Too Many Totes?

I’m sure I’m not alone in having too many totes and no idea what to do with them. I have quite a hoard of watch-related carry-alls that I get as swag at events. I recently gave away a bunch at a local collectors event, but I still have a weekender full of bags and have been looking at ways to upcycle.

Because I love all things Halloween I bought this kitty kat kushion at the Dollarama recently (yes, retail spooky season is in full effect and it’s still August). Then, whilst pursuing Pinterest, I came across a tutorial for making shoulder bags out of fish stuffies. The trick was just taking all of the cotton batting out of the fish and replacing it with an existing tote bag. Here is the result.

I was on a roll and next covered a surplus tote with a colourful, empty rice bag. Here’s the before (please disregard the mess in my “studio.”

I will still endeavours to find a fish-shaped cushion so I can emulate my original inspo. Or I could just pick apart another donor tote or two and recut with a cod-silhouette. Which brings my to the next project for upcycling canvas sacks. I thrifted the barn coat below with the idea to use it as a template for a merch patterned jacket.

And now picture this (but with random Watch logos).
