Old School Shampoo

I was talking to my friend and fellow blogger The Office Bride last week and she told me that her mom used to wash her hair in beer to give it extra shine and body. Which reminded me of the old Body On Tap shampoo. Which led me down a Wikipedia rabbit hole of old 1970s shampoos like Gee Your Hair Smells Terrific, the Original Herbal Essences and weird food-infused products like Touch of Yogurt (pictured above) and Lemon Up.

I also discovered (if you’re feeling nostalgic) that you can get versions of most of these shampoos via a company called The Vermont Country Store.

I personally lament the old Vidal Sassoon shampoo (the one in the brown bottle that smelled like almonds). I personally berated Vidal Sasson himself for allowing the scent to be changed. That’s what I do when I meet famous people, I yell at them or introduce myself as a fan and then say “that is all.”
